Position Description
Principal Function: The pastor is responsible to the church for providing spiritual and administrative leadership of the church.
Basic Qualifications Desired:
- A Master of Divinity or equivalent degree from an accredited seminary.
- Five years of experience as a senior pastor or equivalent of a growing church with multiple staff.
- Must be an ordained minister of the gospel.
Responsibilities:
Provide Spiritual Leadership
- Must provide spiritual leadership through prayer and bible study.
- Preach the gospel, lead prayer and worship services.
- Lead members to trust and love God with a desire to serve Him.
- Model love and lead the members to love one another and their neighbors.
- Lead and encourage stewardship and world mission support.
Provide Pastoral Leadership
- Provide spiritual Leadership, development and training to the ministerial staff, church deacons and church members in leadership roles.
- Provide guidance and support to all church ministries and departments.
- Responsible to the church to provide spiritual and administrative leadership with the ability to use creative approaches to connect spiritual principles to peoples lives at all levels of spiritual maturity.
- Counsel members and others in times of crisis.
- Actively participate in the visitation of church members (sick, bereaved and shut-in).
Provide Outreach Leadership
- Train, organize and promote support of members to do visitation of and witnessing to unchurched persons.
- Provide motivation and support for all outreach ministries.
Provide Administrative Leadership
- Serve on the Church Council in the responsibilities outlined in the EBC By-Laws.
- Provide leadership to other Church sponsored auxiliaries (Sunday School, etc.).
- Work in conjunction with the Church Trustees.
- Understand, abide, and provide support in the development and application of the church By-Laws, Policies and Procedures.
- Understand the organizational leadership structure of the church and the Southern Baptist organization.
- Manage and support all church employees according to church policies and procedures.
